Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our calculators
Are these calculators free to use?▸
Yes! All calculators on calculox are completely free — no registration, no subscription, no hidden charges. We believe financial literacy tools should be universally accessible. The site is supported by non-intrusive Google AdSense ads, which is how we keep everything free.
How accurate are the results?▸
Very accurate. All formulas are sourced from official publications: the EMI formula matches RBI guidelines, income tax slabs follow the Finance Act 2025-26, SIP returns use the AMFI-standard future value formula, and BMI uses WHO classification criteria. Results are verified against SBI, HDFC, and ICICI bank calculators. Note: all results are estimates — real-world figures may vary due to bank-specific processing fees, variable interest rate changes, and individual circumstances.
Is my data safe and private?▸
Yes. Every calculation runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript — no input data is ever sent to our servers. We do not store, log, or share your financial figures. The only data collected is anonymous usage analytics via Google Analytics (page views, not calculation inputs). You can verify this by checking your browser network tab: no POST requests are made when you calculate.
Which EMI calculator formula does calculox use?▸
We use the standard reducing-balance EMI formula: EMI = [P × R × (1+R)^N] / [(1+R)^N − 1], where P = principal, R = monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 1200), N = loan tenure in months. This is the same formula used by all RBI-regulated banks in India for personal loans, home loans, and car loans. For edge cases like zero interest rate, we fall back to simple principal division.
What is the difference between SIP and lump-sum investment?▸
SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) spreads your investment over time with fixed monthly contributions, giving you rupee-cost averaging — you automatically buy more mutual fund units when prices are lower. Lump sum means investing the entire amount at once, which is optimal only if you can time the market perfectly. For most Indian investors, SIP over 10+ years consistently outperforms lump sum because it removes the need for market timing and enforces financial discipline. Use our SIP Calculator to compare both scenarios.
How is income tax calculated under the New Regime for FY 2025-26?▸
Under the New Regime (default from FY 2024-25): Income up to ₹3L = 0%, ₹3–7L = 5%, ₹7–10L = 10%, ₹10–12L = 15%, ₹12–15L = 20%, above ₹15L = 30%. A ₹75,000 standard deduction applies automatically. Section 87A rebate eliminates tax entirely if net taxable income (after standard deduction) is ≤ ₹7L — making effective zero tax up to ₹7.75L gross salary. Add 4% health & education cess on the computed tax. Our Tax Calculator handles all this automatically including surcharge for incomes above ₹50L.
Will you add more calculators?▸
Yes! We actively expand the toolkit based on user requests. Planned additions include: PPF Calculator, NPS Calculator, Sukanya Samriddhi Calculator, Currency Converter, Compound Interest Calculator, and a Loan Comparison tool. Contact us at supportcalculox@gmail.com to request a specific calculator.
